Back when I was a little kid I was always intrigued about stories of Bigfoot (also known as Sasquatch) and other creatures of folklore. There’s just something about living in a world where the extraordinary actually exists that makes life so much more interesting and less mundane.
So when exactly did the whole Bigfoot folklore start?
To be honest, I really don’t know. Humans have been telling stories about giant hairy men for about as long as humans have been able to tell stories. It’s just nice to be able to dream of something out of the ordinary happening and seeing a giant would be pretty out of the ordinary.
But even though stories of giants covered in hair have been around for as long as we can remember, the story of the Bigfoot we know it today started in the fall of 1967. That’s the year when two cowboys by the name of Bob Gimlin and Roger Patterson went looking for a supposedly large hairy creature that was reported to have been roaming the woods in Northern California.
While both men were riding horseback they eventually came to a point when their horses appeared startled out of the blue and that’s when they noticed the alleged Bigfoot. Patterson took his camera out of his saddlebag as fast as he could and recorded the footage below.
There’s no doubting that this creature definitely looks like a Sasquatch, but is the footage actually real? This question has stumped many of the Bigfoot believers and disbelievers all around the world, and still to this day hasn’t actually been proven fake or real.
What has been proven real though is the lack of real evidence showing that Sasquatch actually exists. Sure, there has been many videos and footprints over the years, but many of the people who have brought evidence to the public have later admitted that it was all a hoax.
This Bigfoot phenomenon has started many popular TV shows and is even still widely believed today. Maybe one day true evidence will come fourth that Bigfoot actually exists, but I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting on it. In my opinion if there was an actual Sasquatch out there roaming the woods in Northern California (or anywhere else in the world) then I think we would’ve found some kind of actual evidence by now – but instead we are only left with stories and bad television shows.
If you want to see some more “evidence” of Bigfoot then I recommend checking out the video below. It’s definitely an interesting watch and maybe it will convince you that the big hairy man actually exists.
